I grew up in the country, surrounded by fields where it was customary, as soon as the chill of autumn was felt in the air to make sure doors weren’t left open “or all the mice will be in from the hedgerows”. Still, occasionally, a little intrepid visitor would make an appearance in the kitchen, sending the dogs, elderly aunts and us kids into a flurry.

I always loved how silent a little mouse could be as it swept like a shadow across a room. A tiny little fuzzy ball.

Surrey is how I remember little country mice.

This pattern can be made by an intermediate crocheter in an hour, and is perfect for anyone looking to try out some amigurumi for the first time as it uses some of the most common ami-techniques, magic loop, working on the round and sewing pieces together.
