This hat is fabulous for playing with color! We love the way the colors of Swan’s Island Worsted went together so much, we just had to create this stylish and versatile set. We have since worked it up in Malabrigo’s Rios and Berroco’s Ultra Alpaca, with great success!

SKILLS USED: Basics, knitting in the round, shaping, stranded colorwork.

SIZES: Hat: One size (adult medium). Mittens: Adult S (M / L / XL)

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Hat Circumference: 22”; Mitten Circumference: 8”. Note: Size is adjusted by changing length.

MATERIALS NEEDED: Swan’s Island Worsted: 1 sk each of 4 colors (250yds/100g; see Pattern below for yardage needed for each individual item). US#6 (4mm) 16” circular and double pointed needles (dpns), US#7 (4.5mm) 16” circular and dpns (or sizes needed to obtain gauge). Stitch markers. Small stitch holder.

GAUGE: 22 stitches per 4” on smaller needles and 20 stitches per 4” on larger needles over stockinette stitch in the round.

HAT- Yardage needed: Color A: 40 yds, Color B: 20 yds, Color C: 40 yds, Color D: 135 yds (Note: If adding length, please add additional yardage to Color D)

MITTENS- Yardage needed for pair: Color A: 180 yds, Color B: 30 yds, Color C: 20 yds, Color D: 40 yds (Note: If adding length, please add additional yardage to Color A)
