This cowl was originally designed to use up some handspun for which I could not find the right project. The roving was a wool silk blend that spun up absolutely buttery. I’m not sure if it was the color or the texture of the yarn, but no matter what lacy shawl or scarf pattern I tried to pair it with, it always ended up looking rough and rustic. The rustic look did not match the lacy patterns at all. This pattern is my solution. The simple eyelets and the alternating sections of stockinette and garter stitch allowed the yarn to do its thing without overshadowing it as the heavier lace had done. I think it’s perfect for heathered and tweed yarns (and handspun) that can look out of place when paired with too much lace.
