Years ago DD requested this type of stole: long, narrow, plain, lightweight & black (the original version.) Later on I knit the cream-colored wool version. Good mindless project while watching TV or traveling. See related blog post

Additional information about materials and needle sizes:

Materials:
600 yds. fingering weight yarn (or sport or worsted wt. for larger stole)
Size 8 needles (size 9 for sport-wt., size 10 for WW)
Yarn needle for weaving in ends

No mm sizes were given in the original pattern but here are the equivalents: size 8 = 5mm, size 9 = 5.5mm, size 10 = 6mm
