Knit some butterflies to decorate gifts, or sew a safety pin on the back to make a fluttery brooch. These are quick knitting projects to use up odds and ends of yarn to avoid waste.

Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, each butterfly is knitted in acrylic DK yarns on single pointed needles (not in the round).

NEEDLES
A pair of 3.75mm single pointed knitting needles (US 5).

RECOMMENDED YARN
Sirdar Hayfield Baby DK; double knitting/light worsted weight; 100% acrylic; a few grammes in each colour

NOTIONS
A tapestry needle for seaming.

SIZES
One size only - 5cm across.

TECHNIQUES
For confident beginners and above, other techniques used include casting on and off, knits, purls, increases and decreases, and a little bit of seaming to finish.
