This is a tunic or dress in Tunisian crochet. The cuts at the shoulders will reveal some bare skin in case you are not wearing something under the tunic.

The tunic is crocheted top-down, so you can make some adjustments in the size and the length as you work. The entire tunic can be crocheted flat, but the pattern specifies that the part under the waist is crocheted in the round. The buttoning strap is optional.

The two patterns “The Emperor’s New Vest” and “The Empress’ Tunic Dress” were made as separate patterns, but both were inspired by science fiction, they do complement each other quite nicely, and the models are made in the same type of linen and almost metallic yarn. When I first saw these models together, I somehow associated them with the characters Magenta and Riff-Raff from Rocky horror show…

The given measurements are referring to the tunic and not to actual body measurements.

The Empress
The Empress sat in her garden, admiring the exotic flowers.
The stillness and the perfumes felt like a soft caressed.
Here she could meditate and find new energy.
She felt secure and relaxed.
