I am a new convert to the Outlander franchise. A friend (well, numerous friends) recommended the books to me. And then the TV series was announced, and I just jumped on board with both feet. Having worked with Julia of Pandia’s Jewels for numerous other collaborations, I was beyond thrilled to work with her on this Outlander inspired pattern.

About the socks - The Celtic knot is part of the national identity of Scotland, so having a cable pattern of it was a perfect choice for these socks. Because there is no beginning or end to the Celtic knot, it reminds us of the timeless nature of our spirit which links to the time travelling we find in the books. The folded cuff is similar to the top of the socks (kilt hose) that are worn with kilts. The moss stitch on the cuff is meant to invoke the gorgeous green landscapes in Scotland.

Dinna Fash! Happy Knitting!

These socks are knit using the magic loop method (although the purchaser could easily adapt it for two circulars or double points).

Judy’s Magic Cast On and Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off are used in this pattern.

The knitter needs to be comfortable with the following techniques: knit, purl, ktbl, k2tog, ssk, p2tog, M1R, M1L, cables, slipping stitches both purlwise, and working with yarn held in front / working with yarn held in back. Instructions for all these techniques are included in the pattern.

This pattern includes instructions in both written and chart forms for 64 stitch and 72 stitch socks.

I’d like to express my immense gratitude to Herself, Diana Gabaldon, for the enthralling Outlander book series and to the creators of the TV series for their entertaining work. This design would never have been possible without their inspiration.

Huge thanks to my amazing test knitters: Andrea (angeiship), Ann (annfran25), Cristy (cristyray), Susan (clucks), and Tracy (phoenixfire). ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
