I first designed this as a hat for the baby I’ll be having in September (!!) and quickly decided to modify it to fit adults. Similar to the “ear” type hats , this is a little more subtle in its shaping with simple little peaks that are formed by the side panels.

Back loop only slip stitches make this hat a great fit for most head sizes, and changing the yarn from worsted to aran or DK will alter the size slightly (DK with a J hook should fit most teens quite well).

Pattern includes instructions for the solid color hat as well as the color-blocked hat (yes, they are slightly different).

Materials Needed:
~ 150-170 yards worsted weight
1 or 2 colors
~ Hook: J / 10 / 6.0 mm
~ Yarn needle

Notes:
~ All stitches are done in BLO
~ Patterns are slightly different for solid and colorblocked versions

Techniques Used:
~ BLO slip stitches
~ Short Rows
~ If either of these techniques are new to you, helpful tips are provided.

Gauge:
~ 8 BLO sl sts x 12 rows = 1.5 inches

Sizing:
~ Since BLO SL STS are super stretchy, one size fits most adults, If you want to make a slightly smaller hat, try using a light worsted or DK weight yarn. For a slightly larger hat, try heavier worsted or aran weight yarn. In both cases continue to use the J hook.
