I designed this shawl for the birth of my granddaughter so the first version was knitted in the cream cotton/acrylic mix yarn. I then thought that if it was knitted in a different colourway with a luxury hand dyed yarn it would also make a lovely evening shawl.

The coloured version was knitted with two skeins of a hand dyed yarn from Felt Fusion which contained both silk and yak. These two luxury fibres added greatly to the feel and drape of the finished shawl.

I chose to use two different colours in the coloured shawl. The shawl has three different lace patterns divided by some garter stitch. Variations could include working each section in a different colour or just working the first two sections for a small shawl/square blanket. In the colour version the first two sections took most of one skein (400m to 480m) and the third section took most of another skein (400 to 480m)

The shawl starts at the centre with a Slip ring Cast-on. A photo tutorial of how to work the cast on is included in the pattern.
