Thornlea, a stunning and sleek, long sleeveless layering piece to have in your wardrobe. The saddle shoulders are worked in stockinette, then stitches are picked up and the Fair Isle is knit down to the hem -- to which ever length you choose! A welt and lace tuck edging is worked around the armscyes and along the hem to finish the look.

The pattern contains instructions to knit Thornlea in the round with steeks, and also flat with no steeks. Just choose the method that you are most comfortable with and follow the colour coded instructions.

Gauge

Fair Isle: 28 sts and 28 rows/rnds to 10cm / 4” with 3mm (US2.5) needles after blocking (or needle size required to match gauge).

Needles and Notions

The gauge was achieved with the following needle sizes. To work the pattern as written, you must swatch and use a needle
size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.

Size A: 2.5mm (US 1.5) 100cm / 40” for saddle shoulder and edgings; if making a long vest then you will need two 100cm
/ 40” for the button band.

Size B: 3mm (US 2.5) various lengths for the Fair Isle.

You will also need: desired number of 2.5cm / 1” buttons, grosgrain ribbon, spare needles or interchangeable cables for holding sts, stitch markers, removable markers, scissors if steeking.
