This dress is crocheted from size 10 cotton thread to fit an 8.5 to 9 inch long doll. Gauge is not really important but I got about 7 sc in one inch.

If you decide to use a different stitch for the skirt you may have to adjust the number of rows accordingly. The second photo is basically the same dress but the skirt is done in a different stitch.
