This cowl is a super easy knit that can easily be finished in a day. The cowl is big and squishy, warm and cozy. It can also be used as a hood, or worn on the shoulders as a capelet. It was inspired by the “Elongated Knit Stitch” by Ashley Martineau of Neauveau Fiber Art. Although called an elongated knit stitch, the technique that Ashley demonstrates does not produce extra stitches on the needle like a traditional yarn over elongated knit stitch. The technique also adds a twist in the stitch so that stitches gently lean to the left. The leaning effect reminded me of Willow tree branches blowing in the wind.

You can also change the look of the pattern by using different size yarns, needles and cable lengths. Just use the appropriate size needles for your yarn and cast on enough stitches to easily space the stitches around the length of the circular needles.
