From the Knit Picks Website:

Tide Pool is a light weight lace scarf that can be worn inside in cool weather and outside when it turns warmer. What looks like a complex overall lace is formed by knitting three panels side-by-side across the width of the scarf. Rows of garter stitch stabilize the long edges. The narrow ends are finished with a scalloped border knitted-on after the main body of the garment is complete. For a simpler project, an all-around garter stitch border can be substituted for the scalloped edging.
