This pattern is written for the circular sock machine using a 72 or 64 slot cylinder. You do not have to be able to rib to make it, only to be familiar with short rows and wrapping needles to prevent holes. You will need to know how to make a selvedge, (rib or hung hem) top and a heel.

A short row take on the toe turned sideways. You kitchener up the side of the big toe and have a definite right and left sock. A fun sock to wear with your Birkenstocks! Self striping yarn is a favorite for some neat patterns.

After wearing these I have found them more comfortable than the regular short row toe. But they do take a bit more time to make than the conventional toe on a Circular Sock Machine.
