The Token of love sweater puts together so many things that I love about knitting: beautiful lace, gorgeous cables, classic moss-sts, shaped shoulders, set-in sleeves, a slight A-line shape (or not, as you also may work it without shaping).

I’m so pleased to release this sweater-pattern.
My testers worked wonderful samples, it’s well worth taking a look at their projects. List of testers at the bottom of the notes.

Design and construction

The sweater is completely seamless.

If you can’t choose between lace and cables, here you have both featured in the same sweater.
The back and front are embellished with a centred lace-pattern, with lovely double-O cables on the sides. The sleeves and the sides of the body are worked in single moss-st pattern.

The body of the sweater is worked bottom-up and in-the-round.
The lower body is slightly A-line, but the pattern also explains how to work a straight sweater (without any shaping).
At underarms, work is divided for upper front and back, that are continued in separate pieces.
The shoulders are shaped by short-rows. Front and back shoulders are joined by grafting, or by the 3-needle bind-off.
The sleeves are worked top-down, starting from the sleeve-caps shaped by short-rows. From underarm the sleeves are worked in-the-round.
The neckline is worked from picked-up and knit sts.

Sizes
Finished chest circumference, after washing/blocking and worked at gauge:
Size 1: 91 cm/36” Size 2: 100 cm/39.5” Size 3: 108 cm/42.5” Size 4: 117 cm/46” Size 5: 125 cm/49.5” Size 6: 134 cm/52.5” Size 7: 142 cm/56” Size 8: 150 cm/59.5” The sample is worked in size 1, with 10 cm/4” of positive ease. I recommend a positive ease of 2.5 – 12.5 cm/1 – 5”.

Gauge 19 sts and 28 rounds/rows = 10 x 10 cm/ 4 x 4”

Materials
Yarn: I recommend an Aran, or worsted weight yarn that knits up to gauge. I used Håndvärksgarn from Hjelholts Uldspinderi, in the colour hvid, to work my sweater. This Aran weight yarn comes in skeins of 100 gr/3.53 oz and 200 m/216 yards.
Of this specific yarn you will need 1000/1150/1300/1450/1600/1750/1900/2050 m = 1080/1255/1420/1580/1745/2075/2235 yards. Needles: Size 3.5 mm/US4 for the ribbed hem, cuff and neckline. Size 4 mm/US6 for the main body and sleeves.

The pattern
The pattern is tested.
The lace and cables are charted, as well as written out.
