Have teddy, will travel?

The idea for traveling teddy came about after Anna, KnittyCent, participated in an online photo sharing group’s Traveling Teddy experience. “What good is a traveling teddy if he doesn’t have a backpack to store any goodies/momentos he may receive from his travels?” So, with a crochet hook in hand, Anna set out to alleviate that problem. The backpack pictured above is the fruit of that labor. That and a great use of scrap yarn left over from the Lizard Ridge Afghan she knit last year!
Crocheted in single, half double crochet, with some double crochet thrown in for spontaneity, this backpack works up quickly. Gauge is unimportant as the drawstring allows for tailored closure and unique style. Use this pattern to whip up a backpack for your traveling teddy bear, or to brighten up the life of a child you know that happens to be going back to school in the near future.
