Tric is available in German and English.

Tric, an A-line shaped cardigan with strong and simple lines, is knitted in one piece from the centre back collar down to the hem, collar, front bands and all.
The top has a tailored fit with (top-down-in-the-round) set-in sleeves, while the body is flatteringly flared by a rib triangle in back.

The technique is new – Åsa’s Top-Down Ziggurat Tricnique (inspired by Tuulia’s Tailored Sweater Method but knitted in one go).

Step-by-step instructions and a photo tutorial, guide you through the unusual beginning, a bit of zigging, zagging, and zipping back and forth before you’re off and sooner at the hem than you’d thought.

You can visit the Tric thread in the Åsa Tricosa Group for suggestions, asking questions, and showing off.

A note on YARN choice
The textured rib does not look equally good in all yarns – some yarns are too floppy, some too twisty and make the ribs knobbly in an odd way. I therefore strongly suggest swatching and blocking.

A note on yardage:
To make best use of your skeins, work the sleeves before joining the third skein for the body. Then you can knit the body as long as you wish or as far as your yarn takes you.
For example, the sample size 40 used up exactly 5 skeins in this way. The pattern lists 6 skeins for that size, but you could do it with five.

Approximate yarn requirements based on the sample in size 40:
790 (820, 880, 920, 1030) 1100, 1160, 1190, 1320, 1350
But please go by the recommended number of skeins. The lower and approximate yardages are listed only to help you get an idea of whether you could get away with less than the recommended number of skeins – and only if you are willing to finish the sleeves before the body and/or adjust the length of sleeves and/or body as you go.
