Asked to describe a quintessential 1950s outfit and its highly likely that most of us would include a knitted twinset in that description, and the ’Trimmed with Roses’ Twinset Cardigan pattern is part of one such twinset familiar to many in the vintage knitting world.
The cardigan is knitted in stocking stitch with a highly decorative rose motif on the upper body. The cardigan has a v-neck front opening, long sleeves, a deep ribbed waistband and shaped side seams - creating the perfect 1950s cardigan style.

The Trimmed with Roses Cardigan is knitted in separate flat pieces then sewn together with the front bands worked separately for that added tailored finishing touch.

’Trimmed with Roses’ Twinset Cardigan is knitted using Wold 2 Ply Fingering Weight, a unique blend of the wool of three British sheep breeds known for their beautiful fleeces, Southdown, Bluefaced Leicester and Shetland, creating a fabulously soft yarn with bounce and spring. Shown here in shades Lime Mortar, Red Sky at Night, Evergreen and Foley.

Our model Charlie is shown wearing the second size 86-92cm (34-36in).

The pattern includes instructions for ten sizes to fit chest measurements between 76cm (30in) and 162cm (64in) and contains both clear written pattern directions, together with charted instructions for colour work detailing plus a comprehensive schematic diagram and sizing chart.

Yarn kits are available at Susan Crawford Vintage.
