Requires 3 colours of size 8/0 beads, 600 main, 500 secondary, and 350 tertiary.

These gauntlet are directly influenced by the fancy leather cowboy gauntlets of the past. The wonderful beadwork and fringing really captures the feeling of the old west.

The gauntlets start from a knit hem in the contrast colour, the colour is carried up as a single stitch between the fringe to create the faux opening, There are buffalo buttons to complete the look along the fringe line.

The beadwork here is actually bead knitting, whereby the beads are knit directly into the stitch to create a pattern. For more information on bead knitting check out my page and posting here. Beads are pre-strung before knitting and pulled up and knit into place.

The pattern here could also be knit using fair-isle techniques - or knit plain for simple gauntlets.

If a man’s hand size was desired, simply knit the hand with a bigger needle.
