Twining Leaves comes from the inspiration of watching the climbing vines and tendrils of the morning glory and pole bean plants grow in my backyard.

They are written in one size (calf 8-11 in) but can easily be sized differently by changing needle sizes.

The pattern is mixed chart and written, with charts for the lace and cable work and written for cuff, heel-flap, heel-turning, gusset and toe.

Skill level: intermediate.
Techniques: twisted stitches, yarn-overs, k2tog, sk2p, cables, varying stitch count, and basic sock techniques.

Notes on Materials

  • 400 yards/375 meters of fingering or sock weight yarn
  • US size 2 (2.75 mm) double point needles
  • Notions: tapestry needle, scissors, 2 place markers (for gusset), and cable-needle
