I love the fit of ribbed socks but find them boring to knit. This nifty little rib stitch is not only engaging to knit, but can be varied easily to give more than one design. Knit both of the variations given here, or rearrange the two “blocks” of the design to come up with your own version! Two different toe options are included as well - shaped toes, to fit each foot more naturally, or traditional symmetrical toes.

This pattern introduces the use of a block diagram to present the stitch patterns. This is simple to follow while knitting and lends itself to your own creative rearranging - how many patterns can you make with 2 blocks? Stitch-by- stitch written instructions are included as well.

This design is suitable for knitters who are comfortable working with double point needles in the round and basic sock techniques. The pattern consists of 5 pages and has been test knit and professionally tech edited to be clear and free of errors.

Sizes: Adult S (M, L) to fit foot circumferences of 8 (9 1/2, 11) in/ 20.5 (24, 28) cm. Designed to stretch and fit with negative ease when worn. Shown in size S, with an 8 in / 20.5 cm foot length.

30 sts and 40 rows/ 4 in/ 10cm over stockinette stitch.

What You Need:
✦ Dirty Water Dye Works “Bertha” (80% merino, 10% cashmere, 10% nylon; 435 yds/ 398 m per 3.5 oz/ 100 g); 1 (1, 1) skein. Shown in color “Chocolate Raspberry”. Exact yardage depends on foot length knit. A size M with a 9 3/4 in/ 25 cm foot length (woman’s shoe size US 8) uses approx. 400 yds/ 367 m of the fingering weight yarn.
✦ One set of dpns in size required to obtain gauge. I used US #1/ 2.25mm. You may need a size or two above or below that.
✦ One stitch marker
✦ Large eyed tapestry needle
