Unicorn Amigurumi
NOTE: THIS IS A DIGITAL PATTERN FOR THE TOY, NOT THE TOY ITSELF.
It’s a unicorn! I wanted to create a fluffy unicorn for ages, ever since I made my fluffy unicorn socks. It took some tinkering and some failed attempts (fluffy yarn is SO HARD to work with at first. I got better after about 3 unicorns, but there is definitely some frustration still!) but I think the end result is more than worth it! After some more retooling (seriously, I made a lot of unicorns. Luckily, I mostly gave them away to other people, which was nice.) I put together this pattern to share with the world :D Hopefully you enjoy creating this little unicorn as much as I did!
What you’ll need:
● Fluffy white yarn. I used a bit less than 1 skein of fluffy white yarn, which is roughly 100m (110 yards). I recommend Zeeman Fluffy, if you’re in the Netherlands and can get your hands on it, but otherwise any fluffy wool intended for size 5-6mm needles will work.
● Fluffy pink yarn. I used about ½ skein of fluffy pink yarn, which is roughly 50m (55 yards). Again, I would recommend Zeeman Fluffy, if you’re in the Netherlands and can get your hands on it, but otherwise any fluffy wool intended for size 5-6mm needles will work. The thickness of your yarn might alter the size of the end result slightly, so keep that in mind when you start working.
● A small amount of yellow yarn for the horn. I used Yarn and Colors Epic 013 Sunglow.
● Scraps of yarn of different colours for the mane. I used rainbow colours of yarn intended for a size 5mm (H/8) needle because I wanted the strands to be thick, but you can use whatever you’d like. The thickness of your yarn might influence how many strands you need per ‘follicle’, so maybe do some trial and error when you reach that section to find what work for you.
● 6 mm (J/10) crochet hook.
● 5 mm (H/8) crochet hook.
● Two safety eyes, roughly 10mm diameter.
● Yarn needle.
● Stuffing to fill the body, head, and limbs.
The techniques you’ll need for this pattern are magic loop (or whatever starting technique you prefer), single crochet, increasing, decreasing, and sewing. (US terms)
