“A little colorwork, a little striping, a lot of fun.”
This free pattern plays with color in two engaging ways! First, a graphic, textured corrugated rib in two colors marches around the brim. Then, an ascending series of stripes taper off towards the crown. Pick high contrast colors for some graphic oomph or a pair of tonal hues for subtle cool.

Knit in Rowan Valley Tweed, this beanie has just the right amount of woolliness. Light, strong, and hardy, this fiber is spun from 100% wool (a thread of which is lambswool for softness). The color palette of earthy greys and richly flecked jewel tones will inspire any number of handsome colorways for this stripey hat!

FINISHED SIZES
TO FIT: 20”/51 cm around, x 8”/20cm long; after blocking; fits a medium adult.

YARN
2 skeins Rowan Valley Tweed (226 yds/207m) in contrasting colors
(enough for another hat in reverse colorway!). Or an equivalent sport-weight yarn:
110 yds/101m of MC; 42 yds/39m of CC.
Shown in High Force 109 (MC) and Littondale 102 (CC).

NEEDLES & NOTIONS
US 4 (3.5mm) 16” circular needle and set of double pointed needles, or size to obtain gauge.
5 stitch markers, (one contrasting).
Darning needle to finish.

GAUGE
26sts = 4”/10cm in Stockinette stitch worked in the round, after blocking.

Note: There’s enough yarn to knit 3 hats in either color combination. Great gift knitting!
