This shawl is designed to be the perfect match for a single cake of my Urban Hints gradient yarn: the contrast shade gradually dapples in and intensifies towards the end of the shawl. The shape is worked as a triangle, with spine and edge increases, finishing with a simple lace row and a picot bind-off. To get the same colour effect as in the picture, knit from the centre of the cake.

I am a slack knitter (gauge pre-blocking was 19x27), so you may need to go up a needle size.

This pattern is now live and the knitalong (KAL) starts on Sunday 22 November at breakfast time - tea and (yarn) cake is on the menu!

I’d love to see all your shawls in progress, here and on Instagram. Please use the tag #urbanhintskal to be entered into the competition to WIN a skein of your choice from The Wool Kitchen’s Etsy shop (I update my shop fortnightly (weather permitting) with new stock and colours).

This is my first design so bear with me and please feel free to question any typos or “knit-os” you encounter in the pattern, either in the KAL thread in my group or via Rav message.
