Vancouver Fog shawl was inspired by my winter trip to Vancouver. This design and the colour theme reflect the majestic and almost surrealistic beauty of the waterfront skyscrapers at dusk.

The shawl is worked on the bias starting at the tip with a few cast-on stitches. The slightly curved shape of this asymmetric triangle-shaped shawl occurs naturally as a result of the different stitch patterns’ tensions between the selvage stitches and the shawl’s body garter and lace stitch patterns. Picots along the side and the bind-off edge add a romantic touch.

The shawl is knit in fingering weight yarn in two colours. One of the unique features of this design is the shawl’s selvage stitches which are worked in a two-colour pattern. When changing colours of the stripes, the non-working yarn is not cut or carried to the next section, but used in the selvage stitches.

Suggested Yarn
Fingering or fine fingering weight yarn in 2 contrast colours.
The sample is knit in knitpicks Capretta. I used 2 balls in MC and 1 ball in CC.
