A fischou was a crescent shawl knitted in fine wool. As today, it was worn over the head or round the neck, often knotted loosely, or pinned with a large broach.

The pattern can be knitted in either cobweb or lace weight yarn. The pattern is the same for both, only the needle size and the final dimensions differ. The lace weight shawl is lovely and warm while the cobweb is very delicate.
