This cozy cowl is a fantastic multi-purpose cold weather accessory. It can be worn scrunched around the neck to create a layer impermeable to the wind. I can also be pulled up and worn as a wimple.

This lovely gradient set of five skeins of fingering weight silk merino blend was purchased last February. However, at approximately 500 yards, I was looking for a project that wasn’t a shawl. I also didn’t want a plain cowl with only large blocks of color transitioning one to another. While sitting through a three day class, Violets are Blue was born. This project is worked entirely in the round in a single piece.
