This is a challenging pattern for knitters looking for some adventurous, Battlestar-Galactica-inspired sock-knitting action!

Note: this pattern is fully updated as of Dec 2014 - reformatted written instructions and charts, and a 2nd size added.

Knitted from the cuff down, these socks feature an intricate twisted cable pattern knitted with viper pilots Starbuck and Apollo in mind. The central arrow cable bears more than a passing resemblance to the speedy viper ships flown by Galactica’s death-defying pilots, flanked by maelstrom-like swirls that recall the violent but beautiful complexities of space.

On these socks, the same combination of swirled rib cables and arrow cable is featured on the front and back of the leg, and continues down the instep of the foot. Additionally, this pattern features a heel flap, with twisted stitches and cables continuing elements of the leg pattern; a similar pattern appears on the toe.

I have written this pattern for DPNs, but include a few suggestions for knitters using Magic Loop technique.

Downloadable pattern is in PDF format and 3.5 MB in size.

I recommend that knitters executing this pattern should be comfortable working with:
• Sock knitting
• Twisted stitches
• Cables
• A turned heel with heel flap

Sizing:
This pattern is written for one size to fit an average foot between 8.5-10 ins circumference. Size is easily adjusted by altering the needle size.

If in doubt, I recommend using the same needle size you would use to knit a plain 64-sts pair of stockinette socks. After you’ve knitted a few inches of the leg, slip the sts on some waste yarn and try it on to be sure of the fit, and adjust your needle size from there if necessary.

Notes for Buyers:
After purchasing, you will be sent an email confirming your purchase, with a download link for the pattern. You can also store the pattern as a PDF file in your Ravelry library for easy access.
