Vyshyvanka shirts are rich examples of Ukrainian embroidery. The traditional motifs and colors chosen vary by area of the country and have had a renaissance among the younger generation in Ukraine. It can tell the story of the wearer and protect the wearer from harm. It seems appropriate to adapt some of these motifs to knitting.
This cowl uses leaves and berries along with the rhombus geometric shape which shows up lots in Vyshyvanka embroidery.

I am not Ukrainian nor do I pretend to be an expert on the stories behind the motifs, I just know they are beautiful.
