I dedicate this pattern to the memory of our little Miniature Dachshund Lena, who was born October 23, 2004 and passed over the Rainbow Bridge on July 26, 2021. She was our joy, our blessing and my knitting muse. Although I originally named my shop to honor my grandmother Lena who taught me to knit when I was 4 years old, I’m rededicating it our sweet and precious little companion. She was … and will always be … much loved.

My little muse Lena told me she wanted a new sweater so I came up with Lena’s Waffle Stitch Miniature Dachshund Sweater.

The waffle stitch makes a cozy, warm garment and is very easy to do. If you can knit and purl, you can do this stitch!

The Front and Back pieces are knitted flat. I include instructions for knitting the turtle neck collar in-the-round or knitting it flat too.

After knitting the pieces, you’ll seam the sides.

The ribbed sleeves are knit in-the-round. If you don’t want to do that, feel free to add simply add a single crochet edging around the armholes.

If you’d like to knit yourself a matching outfit, please see my “Easy Waffle Hat and Scarf” pattern!

I’m always here to help my buyers, so if you have any questions as you work up the design, please contact me at the Email address given on the pattern.

Thank you … and as always, my little Lena sends warm greetings to all the other adorable little doggies out there!

NOTE: A grateful thank you goes to my buyer CBronwenThomas for giving me permission to use her photo of her completed project. Doesn’t her dog look fabulous?

ANOTHER NOTE! I’d like to also thank my buyer Gillian for sharing her photo of her adorable “Ralphie” in the sweater she made for him. He looks like handsome in this reddish color!
