The week before my first baby’s due date, we received a brand new Cascade Yarn, Baby Llama Chunky at our store, Yarn for Ewe. I couldn’t wait to cast on something new with this amazingly soft 100% baby llama yarn and really wanted something fun to make while waiting for my baby to arrive!

This is a simple, cozy cowl that is perfect for a cool autumn day! 2x2 ribbing and an easy yarn-over technique make this cowl look more complex than it actually is. You can finish this in two or three evenings, which makes it a great, fast gift!

Cascade’s Baby Llama Chunky is perfect for this pattern, as the yarn’s softness and drape prevent the cowl from being stiff and uncomfortable around the neck. This pattern uses just one skein of Cascade’s Baby Llama Chunky, with a small amount of yarn left over. If you are a particularly loose knitter, you may want to go down a needle size (from a US 10 to a US 9) so as not to run out of yarn.
