There were two variations of this pattern: Seed & Rib and Fancy Rib in Winter 2005 Interweave Knits subscriber content free pattern. This pattern does not seem to be on the website currently.

Pattern Description from Interweave Online Store: “This designer can’t imagine a better gift than custom-made handknitted socks. That’s why, whenever she has time, she makes socks for her friends and family. She looked through a Japanese book of stitch patterns and couldn’t decide between a fancy rib pattern and a seed and rib pattern, so she made both!”

Finished Size: About 7½“ (19 cm) foot circumference and 9½” (24 cm) long from back of heel to tip of toe. To fit women’s U.S. shoe sizes 6½ to 7½.

Yarn: Shelridge Farm Soft Touch Ultra (100% wool; 192 yd 175 m/50 g): 2 skeins for each pair of socks. Shown in navy and brown.

Yarn weight: #0 - Lace

Gauge: 16 sts and 22 rnds = 2” (5 cm) in St st worked in the rnd on smaller needles.

Needles:

  • Lower leg and foot - size 2 (2.75 mm): set of 4 double-pointed (dpn).
  • Upper leg - size 3 (3.25 mm): set of 4 dpn.
  • Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions: Marker (m); tapestry needle.
