“It is our choices, Knitter, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”

The inspiration for these socks comes from the amazing Harry Potter series. I grew up reading those books, and they still hold a place in my heart as an adult. This pattern is the second in a collection I am designing: The Charmingly Magic Sock Collection. The collection will be made up of 7 different sock designs, one inspired by each of the seven Harry Potter books.

The inspiration for the What Lies Within Socks is the second book, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and what lies within the chamber itself. The Basilisk, as well as snakes in general, play a major part of the overall plot, and the cable detail in this design reminds me of Salazar Slytherin, and his favourite creature.

Featuring a simple cable pattern (that you won’t need to know Parseltongue to knit), this pattern is addictive, and much like the books, will leave you not wanting to put it down. Make sure to share your eye-catching socks on Instagram with the hashtag #WhatLiesWithinSocks so I can see your beautiful knits!
