Widewater, overlooking Long Island Sound, is the mansion once owned by Ward and Dorothy Melville. The Melvilles were prominent philanthropists, donating the original land and funds to establish the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1957. Mrs. Melville was known for her work in local charities and civic affairs, as well as for her elegant wardrobe. This crocheted cowl, which works up quickly, will dress up any winter coat.

All Long Island Livestock patterns are free with the purchase of the yarn to make them. LI Livestock yarn is sold at yarn shows such as Vogue Knitting Live and NYS Sheep and Wool (Rhinebeck), and occasionally on the website at lilivestockco.com/yarn/ We are also happy to send you photos of our current offerings!
