From the Knit Picks Website:

This striking scarf, knitted of luxurious kid mohair and silk, will not only feel wonderful next to your skin but garner you lots of attention! A chic accessory, it is suitable both for day and evening wear. It would look especially dramatic layered over a long coat.

The design is built from a long narrow rectangle knitted in the orchid pattern and edged in garter stitch for stability. The elaborately fluted ruffle grows from stitches picked up along one of the long edges.

Skill level: This is fairly easy lace, and I think a newcomer to lace knitting can do this project. The orchid pattern, which is 19 stitches wide and 14 rows high, is charted; instructions for the ruffle are in words. This is stockinette-based lace, in which all the patterning is done on the right side. All wrong side (or “rest rows”) are purled.

Finished dimensions after blocking: 64 inches long; 9 ½ inches wide, as measured from the top of the rectangle to the point of the ruffle.

Needles:
Size 5 (3.75mm): straight
Size 6 (4.0mm): circular
