About the Pattern:
This hat can be made by any advanced beginner knitter. Skills needed to make the hat are knit, purl, slip stitch, and knit two together. It is a quick and simple knit and the slip stitch throughout gives it a little extra thickness which makes it extra warm and cozy. Color changing yarn or adding stripes can also add a really interesting effect because of the slip stitch pattern. It is available in two sizes, adult small (20”-21” head) or adult large (22”-23” head). In the pattern the small size will be shown first, then the large size in brackets, for example: small (large). The name of the pattern is inspired by the wool used to create the original hat, and more information about it can be found under the Yarn section of this pattern.

Gauge:
11 sts x 17 rows= 3” square in Slip Stitch Pattern (to test gauge, cast on an even amount of stitches, Row 1: Purl across entire row, Row 2: K1, Slip next st without changing its orientation on the needle, Repeat to until end of row. Repeat Row 1 and 2 until you have enough rows to measure gauge)

Needles:
6mm Double Pointed needles for ribbing rows (“smaller needle”)
8mm Double Pointed for body of hat, or size needed to obtain above gauge (“larger needle”)

Yarn:
Any chunky weight yarn will work for this pattern.
