This project is shown on page 117 of Interweave Knits, Spring 2007. The pattern is NOT in the magazine, however. Readers are instructed to find instructions on the website.

Finished Size: 7” foot circumference and 8 1/2” long from back of heel to tip of toe; 9” calf circumference unstretched (will stretch to a maximum of 11 1/2”); 13 1/2” long from top of cuff to beg of heel flap, and 9” long from tip of toe to back of heel. Socks shown fit women’s U.S. shoe sizes 6 to 7; instructions for adjusting foot length are given in the pattern.

Yarn: Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock (80% superwash wool, 20% nylon; 215 yd 196 yd/56 g): #2ns manzanita (medium plum), 3 skeins. Yarn amount is sufficient for foot lengths up to 10”; for larger sizes, purchase an extra skein.

Gauge: 18 sts and 26 1/2 rnds = 2” in St st worked in the rnd; 32 sts of cable patt from chart measure 3 1/2” wide.
Needles: Size 1 (2.5 mm): set of 5 double-pointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Cable needle (cn); tapestry needle.
