Winter Doldrums Shawl.

Beginner: This pattern is appropriate for a beginner knitter who has experience with: knitting and purling, has done yarn overs and understands slipping stitches. It is a great “next steps” pattern.

Around February and March every year I get a bit of the winter doldrums, and this shawl was designed to combat that. It comes at the bleakness of the winter season with colour, it hits the dragging on of the season square in the timeframe with a quick satisfying cast on and bind off. I hope this shawl is as satisfying for you as it was for me.

Things you will need:
3 mm (2.5 US) Circular or strait needles (or size required to obtain gauge)
Scissors
Tapestry needle (to weave in the ends)
One stitch marker

Yarn
One 100 gram skein of fingering weight yarn in a beautiful cheerful colour to chase away the winter doldrums.

Note
It is very easy to add different colours to this shawl and you can feel free to make it as large as you want, it is written for one skein of yarn but can easily be knit with two, three or more skeins.

Gauge
Pre blocked gauge: 4” /10cm = 24 sts x 40 rows- in pattern
Blocked length: 44”/ 111.76cm
It is an asymmetrical shawl knit on the bias, it begins with a few cast on stitches and increases along one side to create a wider edge on the other side.
