Wintry Mix is now available in two formats!

The original pattern, available here, is a traditional pattern, written in multiple sizes, with a fixed gauge. To make the traditional pattern fit you well, modifications are likely required. (My book, Knit to Flatter, has guidance on selecting a size and performing the modification math, as does my website.)

The CustomFit version of Wintry Mix will give you a sweater that looks exactly like the original sweater, but all of the pattern numbers have been created exclusively to match your gauge, your body measurements, and your length/sleeve preferences. For the fully customizable version of Wintry Mix, go HERE. (Note, CustomFit requires free log in account.)

Wintry Mix lets you have your cake and eat it, too: A com- fortable, cozy sweater for the chilliest of days that still flat- ters your figure. Constructed nearly seamlessly, the body is knit in the round from the hem up; the set-in sleeves are worked in the round from the bottom up; the cowl is also picked up and worked in the round.

With minor alterations, Wintry Mix can flatter a variety of body types. As written, the wide neckline and thick garter hem make Wintry Mix a great choice for proportional figures. Altering the sweater length and/or the thickness of the garter hem can make Wintry Mix a great choice for bottom-heavy (shorten the sweater and narrow the garter band) or top-heavy (ensure the sweater ends at fullest part of hip and widen the garter band) figures.

As with most of my patterns, vertical waist shaping darts enable easy customization to fit your needs. Should you desire less waist shaping than specified, you can either omit the shaping rows entirely, or omit/reduce only the shaping on the front of the sweater. Bustier women can accommodate their needs by performing more increases on the front of the sweater, and not in the back. Extra stitches should be decreased into the neckline.

As with all patterns, compare the schematic against your own measurements and make alterations as necessary.

Berroco’s Blackstone Tweed is a truly luscious blend of wool, mohair, and angora that results in an incredibly luxe sweater. Should you desire to use an alternate yarn, you will need approximately 932 (1008, 1097, 1165, 1245, 1313, 1409, 1523, 1671, 1807) yds/853 (922, 1004, 1066, 1140, 1202, 1290, 1395, 1530, 1655) m.
