This cowl was inspired by nature and a wonderful Japanese stitch dictionary. I changed the original stitch and added some detail between the cables. Once the cowl was finished it reminded me of the knots that form so organically in trees. They add beauty and dimension to a tree. These cables seemed to do the same for this cowl with lots of flowing movement.

I suggest using a looser gauge than usual for this yarn. I think it works up more like a worsted weight yarn. I used a US #8 because I tend to knit tighter and wanted a flowing piece. With the intense cabling this pattern has it will be very dense and won’t wrap nicely if knit too tightly.
