Woodbine is the answer to my fondest sweater dreams – easy to knit, all in one piece, and flattering on a pear-shaped body. This pattern contains detailed and test-knitted instructions for sizes small through extra-large. Woodbine ES will be released in the winter with extended sizes up to 5X.

Specs: Top-down raglan with broken rib stitch on bodice, flowing into arched lace under bust and below elbow. Button loop closure incorporated into band. Blending these two patterns creates a form-hugging bodice that gently flares away from the body below the bust, creating a pleasing silhouette. The sleeves can be worked two ways; slightly flared or more traditional. (Both sleeve styles are shown in the mannequin photo)

Difficulty Rating: Intermediate. Techniques used include increase/decrease, traveling stitch lace, double decrease, knitting in the round, fudging.

Gauge: 18 stitches & 24 rows = 4” in broken rib pattern. Please make a gauge swatch at least 4” square using both the broken rib and the arch lace patterns so you can become comfortable with how the patterns flow one into the other.

Size: Small (34”); Medium (40”); Large (42”) XL (48”) A note about scalability: Garment size is based on the 8 stitch pattern repeat (p3, k5). Within reason, adding 8-stitch repeats to any section will increase it by 2”

Materials: 1,000 (1,200, 1,300, 1,450) yards worsted weight yarn (model knitted in Elann Peruvian Highland Wool)

US Size 7 circular needle (or size needed to achieve gauge), at least 24” long; plus one needle 2 sizes larger for bind off; and one circular needle one size smaller for sleeves. Using an interchangeable 40” cable for shoulders, torso and button band allows you to easily try on the sweater in progress.

Misc: Crochet hook for making button loops; Split ring and regular stitch markers; Small amount of contrasting yarn for marking pattern repeats; 3 buttons
