After the thumb gusset was complete on both socks, I put them both on two circular needles and knitted until I was out of yarn. Just a tiny bit left ( see fourth picture). Nine stitch thumb hole.

Slipped first stitch on each garter stitch row for a smooth edging, and a very easy pick up for the remainder of the mitt. Three needle bind off to join garter strip together.

If (when) I knit another pair, I’ll do a few rows of ribbing before casting off the wrist. With plain stockinette, the wrist wants to roll up.
