Notes

Attempting a gradient effect with the sample bag of Coast yarn. How big a scarf can I make with 350 meters of this very fine fingering weight yarn (feels like lace weight, but I’ve heard it blooms when it’s washed).

Do not forget to do the increases on the straight side with the loop method. I had set it down for a few days, picked it up and began doing all increases with the KFB. It made for a very ugly edge. I ripped all that out and did it over, correctly. The last photo is of the ugly edging.

I did not calculate my amounts correctly, and came to a finish before I got to the lightest color in the gradient. I only used .75 of the 50 grams.

I put the finished scarf in a net bag and washed it with my regular laundry, then laid flat to dry. A small portion of a seam in the bag opened up, and the dark portion of the scarf escaped. That portion is slightly more compacted than the rest of the scarf, but I am very pleased with the final fabric, it bloomed beautifully.

I would definitely finish another project knit in the yarn by putting it in the washer (in a bag).
