Notes

14 March - Finished! Oh, and blogged.

I’m pretty pleased with this. I basically knit till I ran out of yarn (I think I literally had about 20 yards of yarn left after casting off - using this fab stretchy cast off). The finished blanket measures about 26” square.

I do love the texture of this blanket (if you can’t be bothered to follow the link trail from Buttonknit’s blanket, the textured stitch pattern comes from this shawl recipe), and I kind of wish I’d had enough yarn to keep playing with the changes in texture.

Saying that, I’m still not convinced that strongly variegated yarn is my favourite thing ever, or that it was right for a blanket where so much emphasis is on texture. Maybe one day I’ll revisit the idea.

24 Feb - Cast on with simple long tail cast on, as I couldn’t find a crochet hook, or indeed be bothered how to learn a circular cast on. This is what happens when you knit while hormonal. I want to emulate Buttonknits’ blanket, so will randomly change to garter/textured stitch here and there.

Incidentally, am loving this yarn, despite it not really being the sort of thing I would normally go for (kudos to LYS for having a swatch knitted up in-store, or I never would have bought it).
