Notes

Susan’s Bonnet is a lacy linen knit done in two pieces. The bonnet is then stitched together with one seam and stitched over a wire frame for support.

The knitting is not difficult as it is a diamond lace pattern with eyelet rows for beading--threading ribbon through as an extra accent. The eyelet row at the front edge of the brim is turned as a hem to form a picot edge. The addition of ribbon ties and a french-wired ribbon rose add period style.

When tied under the chin as for a period costume, the brim bows out around the face in a most beguiling fashion. Surely the Susan’s Bonnet will captivate your Mr. Darcy.
