Swatched and I can get stitch gauge with 4.5 mm but the row gauge is off. I think it’s okay if this one comes out a bit long so I’m going with it because I like the hand of the fabric at this gauge better than what I got with 4.0mm.
Cast on Nov. 24 Hoping to finish before Christmas.

12-15-2019 - double checking the sleeves

A lot of other people’s project notes mentioned problems with the sleeves coming out way too long (thank you :) so I double checked my row gauge after I’d knit a few inches. My row gauge was already a bit longer in the body (good because the arm hole length is really pretty tight already so I was glad to make it a bit longer without adjusting the stitch count). I got the same row count for the sleeve: 26 rows = 4” so I adjusted the number of rows to get a 17.5” sleeve before the ribbing as follows:
after 1st row of picking up and knitting around sleeve I knit an additional 11 rows (12 total) then:
(9 rows, increase row) x 2
(8 rows, increase row) x 8
Also checked the length of the sleeve halfway through to make sure that it was going to come out right.

Finished second sleeve, steam blocked to shape/size, started funnel neck.

Finished the neck this morning and I’m happy with it. It’s comfortable and warm. I did steam block it before I added the collar, but I think I will give it a good soak and wet block it to open it up a bit as it still feels a little ‘springy’ like the yarn hasn’t settled into this shape yet.
