Notes

Got yarn on 10/1/12. Swatched and had difficulty hitting row gauge. got close enough to block to correct measurements.

10/6/12 made it all the way through to the start of the waist shaping. The pattern is formatted in a non-conventional way, but it makes it very clear and easy to follow; I love the layout. Not loving the “decrease so many evenly” part though.

10/10/12 finished the body and started the sleeves. first time working short-row sleeve cap shaping and I have to admit that I quite like it. it’s clean and simple, and looks like the best seaming job I’ve ever done, lol. it this wasn’t a catalog sample I would have swapped out the called-for short-row technique with the German short-rows I learned on my Rockafeller shawl, but I believe that samples should be knit exactly as written. I also have to admit that although the start frustrated me, this is a simple-to-knit and clever design, and the finished piece is very cute. Even the color is growing on me :)

Oh snap! Did I just finish the first sleeve?! That baby flew off the needles.

10/20/12 finished knitting the second sleeve and worked the edging. made a slight adjustment to the edging so it would lay flat, and communicated that information to Knit Picks. There should be a matching adjustment made to the pattern, so anyone purchasing after this date shouldn’t need to worry about doing anything other than following the pattern exactly as written. Now to do the finishing.

10/26/12 blocking is done. it blocked right out to the correct size, as I had hoped it would. i actually blocked it about four days ago, but it took a little while to dry completely. today i’ll weave the tails in and hopefully get it to the post office. there’s a storm coming in a few days and i need to get ahead of it so this gets to the offices on time.

over all, this is a really lovely sweater.

10/30/12 had to evacuate because of Hurricane Sandy so I grabbed this sample and took it with me, lol. Hoping to get to a UPS office today to ship it out.
