Unlined version without the ribbon & beads but with an added pompom. 35g for the hat, 10g for the pompom, 10g left.
Even on size 2mm needle and using a lace weight yarn, the border is really, really loose, I think there’s too many stitches cast on in this hat. It turned out way too big too, probably partly because I used 3.25mm needle for the main body instead of 3mm, but I feel like I should have knit the entire thing in 2mm or 2.5mm to get a good fit with that many stitches around. Either way, if I make this hat again, I think I’ll size down the needles or use 1 less pattern repeat.
---------------------------Mods---------------------------
-
I didn’t have a 3 mm needle on hand so I used a 3.25 mm needle instead.
-
I used a different border - p1, (k1, p1) 4 times, repeat - and worked it 32 rows instead of 16 for a wider border. It would have looked amazing too with a ktbl instead of k. After that I folded the border and attached it to the cast on edge at every stitch.
-
Since I wasn’t using a ribbon, I omitted the YOs on row 2 and simply worked the pattern as I previously established, replacing k1 by k1tbl and working a m1 purlwise increase in every pattern repeat in between the two purl stitches.
-
Once I started the chart, I kept the pattern going until the cables went over.
---------------------------Yarn---------------------------
This yarn is absolutely gorgeous, incredibly soft and easy to work with. Ony downside I have found so far is that the yarn is really weak, and tends to break easily - maybe they should’ve added a little bit of nylon in there for durability. Anyways it really has to be handled with care, but it looks (and feels) absolutely amazing, I would knit with this again but would definitely keep it for luxury items.
