I knit these as a favor to P. He needed a thank you present for his friend’s parents, for letting him stay with them while deer hunting for the past few years. Seemed like a fitting gift for someone who lives in the country in central Wisconsin.

I just knit up a pair of mittens from the pattern in my head and added a Fair Isle motif from Alice Starmore’s book. This marks the first time I’ve changed the colours in the background of a Fair Isle piece. I’m very pleased with the results!
