I have made these with pure Shetland wool and have used five different colours including white and two shades of grey from Jamieson and Smith some of the other colours are from my yarn stash of Shetland wool I have gathered over the years. I am pleased with the combination of colours. The pattern is traditional and easy to knit up.
I have included a photograph of Heylor in Shetland where the gloves namesake is at. This view is looking down from above where I live looking out the voe to the mouth of Ronas Voe and the Atlantic beyond - ‘the pond’ on the west side of the north mainland. On part of the beach from mid May to late August the Artic Terns nest.
